Our Mission & Vision

Our vision is to live out our Christian faith as we prayerfully REACH out, TEACH God’s Word and RESPOND to needs.

Mission

As a family oriented community of believers, we seek to build healthy relationships with each other and with Jesus Christ.  Our church is a place to ask questions, grow in our knowledge about Jesus and his love and learn of the difference a Christian faith can make in our lives.  Continually learning about the teachings and work of Jesus provides HIS newness of life in us that overflows onto others in our homes, churches and community.  Having learned of Jesus loving service, we seek to reach out and respond to the needs of others in our midst, community and abroad.

Our Minister the Reverend Raymond Knight, Incumbent: “I was commissioned as a Church Army Officer May 3rd 1980 at the age 20.  While I was single, Church Army moved me around a lot.  Shortly after getting married, Judy and I began ministry together accepting a posting in the Anglican Diocese of Moosonee. We served as co-incumbents in Waswanipi Quebec, living on the Cree reserve for 7 years. It was during this time that I felt the call to ordained ministry.  I was ordained a Deacon on February 2nd, 1997 and Priested February 23rd, 1997 in the Anglican Diocese of Saskatoon, where I served as the priest of Lintlaw/Endeavour parish for over 6 years.  From there I served in shared ministry in Porcupine Plain Parish.  This shared ministry was an Anglican United Church parish/pastoral charge.  From there I was accepted as the incumbent of the Flin Flon Anglican Church Parish of St. Peter’s and St. James.  I had the privilege of serving there for 12 years.  Then it was a 3 year term position in Winnipeg.  This has brought me to Sault Ste. Marie and the parish of Christ Church Korah.  Judy and I have enjoyed 33 years of marriage and ministry together.  We are very pleased that our adult son Joshua moved here with us.  Our daughter Kaylah, her husband Chris and our 2 grandchildren, William 9 and Leah 5, live in Brandon, Manitoba.  It was a great joy for me to be able to officiate at the wedding of our daughter Kaylah and her husband Chris here at Christ Church Korah on October 10, 2020.  It is a real joy and privilege for me to serve here in Christ Church Korah and be part of the Deanery of Algoma and the Anglican Diocese of Algoma.”

Based on the Robinson-Huron Treaty (1850) territory, we acknowledge the indigenous peoples to this land.  We commit ourselves to the work of reconciliation with indigenous peoples.

The Most Reverend Anne Germond, Archbishop of Algoma and Moosonee Dioceses (Anglican Church of Canada) provides a moto for 2021: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8
